Books for the Homebound
The Eastchester Public Library provides free library service to the homebound. If you or someone you know is unable to get to the library and is interested in having books or books-on-tape sent to their home, contact the library at (914) 793-5055 Books for the Homebound is open to all Eastchester residents. Visually-handicapped people are welcome. There are no age requirements.
Books for the Homebound are delivered through the U.S. Mail or, if you are an Eastchester Meals Delivered recipient, by a Meals Delivered volunteer.
To register, call the library and ask for Mary Mac or Tracy Wright. Be prepared to tell us what authors, titles, or types of books you like to read or listen to. Be as specific as possible and don't forget to tell us if you need large print titles.
We will send you the titles you request as soon as possible. If you recieve your books by mail, a postage-paid mailer will be included with your books. Simply drop the books in any mailbox and they will be returned to the library. If you are a Meals Delivered recipient, give your books to your Meals Delivered volunteer and they will be returned to the Nutrition Center at Lake Isle. We will take it from there.
After your deliveries begin, you may call the library to add or delete titles from your profile at any time.
Books for the Homebound is proudly sponsored by the Eastchester Public Library and the Friends of the Eastchester Public Library.
The program is co-ordinated in part with the Eastchester Senior Center Nutrition Program.
